Saint Lucy was order to death for being a Christian. She was tortured by gouging her eyes out, but God restored her eyesight. She was then set on fire; again, God interceded and she was saved. Lucy was later martyred with a dagger.
Saint Lucy is recognized today as the patroness of those who suffer from blindness and eye ailments. Feast day ~~ December 13th
